Centralised system to link all BBMP control rooms

Last Updated 25 October 2017, 19:45 IST

In order to monitor senior Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials posted in control rooms, a centralised video conference system will be put in place soon.

There are eight control rooms in as many zones in the BBMP.

The centralised system will connect all the CCTV cameras from all BBMP control rooms to the central control room and will ease the process of keeping tabs on the other control rooms.

On seniors present
This was initiated by Mayor R Sampath Raj after he found that no senior officials were present at the control room in Bommanahalli when he went on a surprise visit at midnight on Tuesday.

The mayor has asked zonal joint commissioners to issue a show-cause notice to three officials, Ramprasad (assistant executive engineer), Kumar (assistant engineer) and Mahesh (health inspector).

Using the centralised system, the central control room will be able to see what officials are doing, thus making it easier to issue orders and make them work.

Forecast warning
“There is a forecast warning of rain for the next two days. If the officials are not there, who will help the people if something happens?” asked Raj.

He has also ordered Prahari vehicles to be present in all control rooms so that they can reach the places where they are required.
