Shoot out case: SP writes to DC to hold magisterial enquiry

Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Kumar R Jain has written a letter to the deputy commissioner requesting for a magisterial enquiry into the incident of shoot out of Supari killer Dharmaraj Chadachan at Konkanagoan in Indi taluk on Monday.

Dharmaraj Chadachan was accused of involving in some sensational murder cases such as Putrappa Sahukar Bhairgond and Fayaz Mushriff.

Team

Police sources told Deccan Herald that a team led by Vijaypur DySP D Ashok has been formed in connection with the case.

The team will conduct enquiry as per Supreme Court orders and directions of National Human Rights Commission and submit a comprehensive report on the incident.

"This is a sensitive issue.

The Supreme Court has already given guidelines to be followed in investigating such cases to bring out the truth. Even the National Human Rights Commission has given directions and enquiry will be held.

Accordingly, a DySP level officer of other sub-division has been appointed as investigating officer. Investigation from all angles will be conducted and report will be submitted by officers within 90 days.


That report will be submitted to the court and a copy of it will also be given to the Human Rights Commission", the SP said.

A case in this regard has been registered at ChadachanPolice Station.

DC confirms

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner K B Shivakumar said that the SP talked to him over phone and informed him of the letter seeking magisterial enquiry. "Steps will be taken once the letter is received", the DC said.

He said that whether the investigation must be done at assistant commissioner's level or whether he must do it will be decided only after assessing the seriousness of the case after they receive the letter. He refused to give other information as the enquiry is yet to be done.

He said that the enquiry will be completed in 20 days and report will be submitted.
