Last Updated 03 November 2017, 20:27 IST

Congress general secretary and in charge of the party's affairs in the state  K C Venugopal, KPCC president G Parameshwara, secretary in-charge Vishwanath S R Patil, working president Dinesh Gundu Rao and Energy Minister D K Shivakumar will arrive at Mangaluru on November 6 to take part in the door-to-door campaign 'Mane-Manege Congress'.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, District In-Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai said the leaders will visit houses starting from Akashabhavana, Kavoor, at 8.30 am. Later, the campaign will be conducted in Deralakatte at 9.50 am.

A meeting of the district executive committee office-bearers and block presidents will be held at the District Congress Committee office at 10.50 am. The leaders will also hold discussions with all  MLAs and MLCs  at 11.15 am. A booth-level workers' meeting will also be held at Lions Bhavan, Mallikatta, later, he said.

'BJP rally a failure'

Stating that the BJP is  doing politics in the name of religion, Rai said that it will not last long.

Noting that the Parivarthana Rally has failed completely, he criticised the rally  saying the empty chairs were   evident to this fact. The state government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has been closer to people by implementing several people-friendly programmes. BJP is cannot to bear this, Rai criticised.

Rai charged that  Kalladka school has been misusing power to obtain mid-day meal benefits from the Muzrai Department temples. As per the rules, the mid-day meal facility from temples could not be availed from schools which are 150 km away from the temple. Still, Kalladka school obtained the facility from Kollur temple, he alleged and accused the Sangha Parivar of making false charges against  the government to make the eligible schools deprived from the facility.

He said that the charges made against Mayor Kavitha Sanil are false. The CCTV camera footage related to the incident has been submitted to the police and the truth will come out soon, he said.

Black Day

The party will take out rally at block level in all districts on November 8 to mark the one-year completion of the Centre's demonetisation initiative.  The day will be observed as Black Day. A protest will be held in front of the DCC office at 10 am, he added.

Sullia and Madikeri units of the party will take out a rally from Sullia to Sampaje. The rally will be flagged off at Sullia at 9 am. A public meeting will be held at Sampaje at 3 pm.
