CRS inspects track doubling work

Last Updated 07 November 2017, 18:04 IST

The commissioner of railway safety has conducted the statutory inspection of the last stretch of the doubling of tracks between Bengaluru and Mysuru, Divisional Railway Manager R S Saxena said on Tuesday.

The DRM, however, noted that the real advantage of doubling of railway line between Bengaluru and Mysuru will only come when the work on electrification of the lines is completed, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Answering reporters' questions over delay in arrival and departures of trains in Bengaluru city, Saxena said the reason for the problem is the introduction of additional services without adding the required infrastructure.

"Decongesting the platforms, especially at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna railway station, needs to be taken up on priority. We have written to the state government seeking additional land," he stated.

About the third entry to KSR railway station, Saxena reiterated that the railways cannot open the entry as long as a foot overbridge has not been provided for its passengers. "We have recently cleared a proposal by the BMRCL to build a FOB. We hope to see some progress soon," he said.
