Facial in classroom lands UP teacher in soup

In a clear reflection of the state of affairs of the primary education in Uttar Pradesh, a principal was caught on camera getting a facial inside a classroom during school hours in Gorakhpur district, about 275 kilometres from here.

Seeing their teacher engaged in the beauty exercise with  a  beautician, the students went out to play in the fields. Sources said that the video was filmed by a villager whose child happened to be a student at the school which is situated at Shivpur Sahabganj.

''I was passing by the school when I saw the children playing outside their classroom even though it was still school hours. I went inside and found the principal having a massage in the classroom,'' he said.

On being asked how she could have a facial massage during school hours, the unrepentant principal said that she was ''free'' and that she was free to utilise  her time.  

Sources said that there is a beauty parlour close to the school and the principal called the beautician to the school.

District education officials said that the principal has been suspended. ''Prima facie it appears that the principal is guilty,'' said a senior district education official in Gorakhpur on Wednesday.
