
A recent global smart city survey has placed New Delhi in the 90th position, while Copenhagen in Denmark is in the top position, followed by Singapore and Swedish city Stockholm.
According to the 2017 Smart Cities Index produced by European parking app EasyPark, out of 10 scores, Delhi received only 3.93, while Copenhagen received 8. 24.
Apart from Delhi, Mumbai, which is in the 93rd position with 3.80 points, is the only other Indian city that found a place in the total 100 cities selected for the survey worldwide.
The ranking was based on cities adopting latest urban amenities like smart parking, clean energy, urban planning business ecosystem, internet speed.
Other factors like 4G, smartphone penetration, traffic sensors and car sharing apps, online access to governmental services and a high level of citizen participation in the governance were also taken into account.
The opinion of over 20,000 technology and urban planners was also taken into account, while finalising the scores, said a statement form Easypark.
Copenhagen is ranked at the top for scoring and has scored high marks in areas like a thriving business ecosystem, high proliferation of smart parking and forward-thinking urban development, said the statement.
