DGP ensures fearless atmosphere during GP polls

Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Gopal B Hosur, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Hemalatha, Superintendent of Police Praveen Pawar, officials from Udupi, Chikmagalur, Shimoga and Dakshina Kannada participated in the meeting held at the ANF Camp in Karkala near here on Friday.

It can be recalled that a meeting was organised to discuss about the infrastructure development in naxal infested regions here on February 16. A proposal to provide water, roads, drainages, bridges and electricity to villages was submitted to the government then. The meeting held on Friday gave more emphasis on implementation of previous meeting’s decisions.

Later, speaking to reporters, DGP said that the police will ensure fearless atmosphere for the people during election. “Security will be beefed up and all measures will be taken to ensure free and fair election,” he added.

Complaints Day on Third Sundays

Complaints day will be organised in all police stations on every third Sundays across the State. People can discuss with the police officers about their complaints and its status on the day. SPs and DySPs also can organise co-ordination meeting to solve cases, the DGP said.

Each police station will adopt a village in their jurisdiction and take initiative to solve cases in the region. Complaints regarding drinking water, road, bridges and other infrastructure will also be considered and forwarded to the department concerned, he added.
