
Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi District-In-charge minister and also minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports, ended up paying a fine of Rs 100 for a 'jolly ride' on a two-wheeler without a helmet.
On November 9, Madhwaraj went on a jolly ride on a two-wheeler belonging to a party worker ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony for the development of Kenjoor road in Brahmavar.
The photograph shows police personnel, who were a part of his convoy, looking at the minister riding the two-wheeler. The photograph and the video of the minister riding the two-wheeler without wearing helmet went viral on social media attracting sharp criticism from the people.
Minister got into the damage control mode and paid fine on Friday. Confirming the payment of fine by the minister, Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev M Patil said that the challan was issued to the minister for violating the rules under Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The minister signed the challan and paid the fine at the Brahmavar police station on Friday, SP said.
