AAP releases third list of 13 candidates for Gujarat polls

The AAP on Monday released its third list of 13 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly polls.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party had earlier announced a list of 20 candidates in the first two phases. With the fresh list, it has so far declared candidates for 33 constituencies out of the total 182.

The AAP, which had earlier set its eyes on contesting all the 182 seats from Gujarat, later withdrew to a shell after setbacks in Goa and Punjab Assembly polls. Under pressure, the central leadership decided to let local leadership try its luck at the hustings.

The constituencies for which the AAP on Monday announced its list include those in Saurashtra and South Gujarat that are going to polls in the first phase on December 9. These include Dasada, Dhrangadhra, Wankaner, Rajkot South, Dhoraji, Khambhaliya, Bhavnagar (West) and Jasdan in Saurashtra and Ankleshwar, Olpad, Valsad, Udhna and Limbayat in South Gujarat region.

While many of the candidates are activists, farmers and those involved with the Patel quota stir, Rasa Raju from Limbayat has been associated with the Telugu community, an AAP communique stated.
