Expressing discontent over the non-implementation of the House Committee report on NICE Ltd, JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has appealed to the sate government to initiate action against the company at the earliest.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Law Minister T B Jayachandra, Gowda has objected to the government trying to give a "quiet burial" to the report on the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Project implemented by NICE Ltd.

He has said that though the government accepted the report a year ago, it has failed to act on it.

"I fail to understand the intention, motivation and compulsion of your government in not acting on the House Committee report.... The state of Karnataka was made to suffer at the enrichment of the company. At the fag end of my life, I will have immense satisfaction if you take action on the report. I do not wish to revise my belief that those of us who assume the responsibility of running the state will not work against the interest of the farmers," the letter states.

Further, the former prime minister has said that the committee was formed by the Legislative Assembly Speaker after several hours of discussion and debate in the House about the illegalities, irregularities, misrepresentation and fraud by the project promoters in collusion with the government machinery.

"But, the government has not taken any action from January 2014 till date to amend the BDA and KIADB Acts in line with the New Land Acquisition Act of 2013," he adds.
