'Withdraw notification on Jamma Bane within 15 days'

If government fails to withdraw, then protest will be organised under the aegis of Kodagu Asthitva Horata Samithi, warned MLC M C Nanaiah.

Addressing a press meet on Saturday, he said by passing another notification on Jamma bane land, BJP government has become a curse to the people of Kodagu.

He said “Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had announced that two controversial notifications on forest and Jamma Bane will be withdrawn within 24 hours of BJP government coming to power. Unfortunately, by passing the controversial notification, the government has taken away peace from the people.”

Nanaiah said “the state government has not withdrawn the notification issued on August 5, 2004 by the forest department fully. In 1998, JD(S) government had taken a final decision on the issues. However, during the reign of coalition government, jamma problem arised once again. As a result, Jamma bane issue is the failure of state government.”

“Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah had announced earlier that he is ready to sacrifice his power to solve jamma bane issue. He need not sacrifice his posts. Instead, let Bopaiah and MLA M P Appacchuranjan assert pressure on CM to withdraw the notification,” he suggested.
