Mangaluru-Africa mission completes 5 years

On the occasion of completion of five years of Mangalore-Africa Mission in Tanzania, Mangaluru diocese Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, in the presence of Diocesan Pastoral Parishad members, released a souvenir at the Bishop's house on Thursday. He then appreciated the hard work done by the mission team in Tanzania.

Mission Director Fr Alwyn D'Souza explained to the audience the work done in education, pastoral and socio-economic field. He said that life in the mission is tough and challenging but it is also interesting. The education imparted through higher secondary school and specially the lab set up by the mission has become a model in Tanzania, he said.

"Around 3,000 solar lights have been distributed to the families as there is no electricity in the area. Lately, a 50-acre farming area is taken up for development by cultivating vegetables and poultry, goat and rabbits," he said.
