Two boys who went swimming in an abandoned quarry near Dodda Togur in Begur were feared drowned on Saturday
afternoon.

The boys were identified as Nadeem (13) and Jaheed (13), both Class VIII students of the Little Angel School in Begur, the police said. The incident occurred at 2.30 pm.

Seven boys from the school, which was closed on Saturday, went swimming at the quarry.

All the boys are aged between 13 and 14 and were residents of Subhash Nagar, the police said.

When Nadeem and Jaheed drowned, the other boys panicked and ran shouting for help from the locals, who informed the police.

The police rushed to the spot after informing the Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire personnel arrived at the spot and started the search but could not locate the bodies. The search operations were suspended after dark. "The search will continue in the morning to retrieve the bodies," said Boralingaiah, deputy commissioner of police South East Division. Electronics City police are yet to register a case.
