Three interstate robbers arrested

The Northeast division police arrested two notorious interstate robbers and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 13.5 lakh from them. The arrested are Samir Khan (31), and Mohammed Firoze (30), both native of Telangana, the police said.

According to the police, the duo has around 12 cases registered against them in various police stations - Sampigehalli, Vyalikaval and Kodigehalli in the city, and Rajendra Nagar and Syed Nagar police stations in Andhra Pradesh.

They rented a house in Kothanur claiming to be daily wagers. During daytime, they would go around the city on bikes and identify houses that were locked. During the night, they would break into the chosen houses and burgle them, the police said.

They would sell the gold valuables stolen from Bengaluru in Andhra Pradesh and vice versa.

The police said that the two met in Parappana Agrahara central prison when they were jailed in separate cases of thefts. They came out on bail became partners. The police identified Samir's face from a CCTV footage while they were investigating a theft case in Kodigehalli.

The police picked him up and interrogated when he revealed Firoze's name. It was a challenge for the police to nab Samir as he would stop using the cell phone and even not tell his wife and children where he was, the police said.

The police traced him to Secunderabad when he switched on his phone.
