Salt water intrudes into farm land

A vast area of farm land was affected with salt water intrusion  at Karnadu Padubail on Friday.

With the lack of maintenance of vented dam constructed to check the intrusion of salt water, the salt water had entered into the farm land. As a result, the farmers cannot take up farming on the land for the next two years.

With the high tide in the sea for the last two years, the failure on the part of the contractor to close the vents of the dam caused the intrusion of salt water, it is said.  

Farmer Yadav Kotian has said that the contractor should bear the loss.

Salt water has entered near the courtyard and farmland of Ronald. The officials of the Minor Irrigation Department have visited the spot.
