A 49-year-old woman of Mangaluru-origin living in Costa Rica in America, lost her life after a tiger shark attacked her in the Pacific Ocean on November 30.

According to information reaching Mangaluru, Rohina Bhandari was working as sales and marketing executive in New York. She was on a tour with her friends, enjoying scuba diving at Costa Rica when the incident occurred.

It all happened when Rohina and the scuba diving guide were returning after a dive off Cocos Island, about 480 km away from Costa Rica mainland. Though the authorities concerned tried to treat her wounds, she breathed her last. The diving guide suffered injuries in the shark-bite, but injuries were not life-threatening, it is said.

Rohina had secured her MSc in Finance from George Washington University and Master of Business Management from Asian Institute of Management.
