MLA asks HDMC to speed up stray dog shifting

MLA Prasad Abbayya instructed the officials of the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) to take steps to check the menace of stray dogs that are attacking citizens including children, and to submit an action taken report within two days.

Holding a meeting with the HDMC officials at his office here on Tuesday, the MLA noted that the stray dog menace is very serious on Mantur Road.

HDMC Health Officer P N Biradar noted that a contractor is shifting stray dogs to the garbage yard, and steps have been taken to check dog menace and to maintain cleanliness at Old Hubballi and Mantur Road areas where the number of meat shops is more.

Using more labourers, more number of dogs should be caught daily. Garbage yard should be fenced properly, to see that dogs do not get escaped from there, Mr Prasad Abbayya said.

HDMC zonal officers should visit the wards daily, to ensure proper cleanliness. Citizens should be educated about proper disposal of waste. Action would be taken against those officials who show negligence, he added.

Dr Ravi Saligoudar, S N Ganachari, Anand Kamble, and other officials were present.
