Intl Day of Disabled Persons at Kshema

The Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, in association with the Nitte- Special Child Care (N-SPECC) Centre and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana, Mangaluru South Zone, Government of Karnataka, celebrated International Day of Disabled Persons at KSHEMA auditorium.

N-SPECC is Nitte Special Child Care project initiated by Nitte University in association with Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana with a vision to provide the best of multidisciplinary treatment free of cost for children with special health care needs.

The programme was attended by around 150 children, their parents and special teachers from Sarva Shiksha Abhiyana. The inauguration began with a skit which introduced N-SPECC to the audience. Dr Prashanth Shetty highlighted pediatric related issues and Meghana Baliga addressed the problems encountered in physiotherapy for children with special health care needs.

Adani Group Joint President Kishore Alva, Nitte University VC Dr Sathish Kumar Bhandary, ABSMIDS Principal Dr U S Krishna Nayak and others were present.

Two-wheeler chairs, six CP chairs, one water bed and five spectacles were distributed to the needy on the occasion. Various sports and cultural competitions were held for the students.

Nitte Special Child (N-SPECC) week will be observed till December 9 wherein free medical and dental check ups will be held at K S Hegde Medical College and A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, at Deralakatte.
