Anshul moves into last-four phase

Anshul Patel enjoyed a splendid run as he entered the semifinal of the 117th Amateur Golf Championship at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) on Friday.

The Gujarat lad secured a fairly comfortable 3&2 victory over Surya Kumar K of Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinal, sealing his passage to the last four.

Earlier, Anshul had usurped top-seeded Thai Kammalas Namuangruk by 1up in the pre-quarterfinal in the morning.

Joining Anshul will be day one leader and state-mate Jay Pandya, Thailand's Sadom Kaewkanjana and Harshjeet S Sethie.

After ousting Aditya Chahal 3&1 in the pre-quarters, Pandya upset Merit List leader Kshitij Naveed Kaul 2&1 in the quarterfinal.

The duo of Anshul and Pandya will face off in the first semifinal, while Kaewkanjana will pit himself against Sethie in the other semifinal, on Saturday.
