Malleswaram Ladies Association’s Academy of Higher Learning held an inter-collegiate festival Bhavayami — Energise the power within you, recently. The fest provided a platform for students to express their talents in dance, music and other performing arts.

The cultural events started with a classical song competition, in which six students from different colleges performed melodious ragas. In the LaughterChallenge, participants amused the audience by enacting humourous instances.

In the Indian free-style dance competition, participants were free to select the songs of their choice. Pratima from Central College gave a splendid performance for some chartbuster songs like Ek Do Teen and Mera Piya Ghar Aya.

Mani from KLE College presented a nicely choreographed dance with great energy. But judges refused to consider his performance for the competition as he had chosen a Western style song. But on the second day, he came back with his team for the group dance event and enthralled the audience.

Desi vs Videshi was the theme given for the fashion show. The all-girls’ fashion team from Ghousia College exhibited colourful attires but failed to incorporate the theme of the show in their creations. The team from MLA First Grade College walked away with the first prize and Seshadripuram College students emerged as the runners-up.

Fusion group dance was one of the most enjoyed events of the fest. Girls of Ghousia College danced to the songs of the film 3 Idiots in a hilarious way. When Central College team was performing, the organisers reduced the volume of the song, which provoked the dancers to leave the stage without completing their performance. Mani and team from KLE College won the first prize in both fusion dance and Western dance categories. A rock band team from MSRIT emerged victorious in the rock band event. Although actors Diganth and Kiran Srinivas were to attend the valedictory function of the fest, they didn’t turn up. But the audience enjoyed the spellbound performances by the participants.
