JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy on Monday urged the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to link Aadhaar numbers to voters' IDs to ensure free and fair polling during the 2018 Assembly elections.
In his letter to the CEO on Monday, Kumaraswamy has said that if Aadhaar numbers are linked to the voter's ID, the Election Commission of India could weed out several problems such as multiple enrollment (in both Assembly and Parliament polls) by the same voter.
Citing that several complaints have been lodged with the Election Commission of India pertaining to multiple enrollments by voters, he has sought the CEO to consider his appeal seriously.
