Lack of bus shelter, congested road haunt Shanivarasanthe

Last Updated 12 December 2017, 15:45 IST

In the absence of proper roads and bus shelter in Shanivarasanthe, the road users continue to suffer from traffic congestion and also being hit by speeding vehicles.

The town has neither a government nor a private bus shelter. The Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle has been converted into a temporary bus shelter. The main road in town, Field Marshal Cariappa Road, is congested and is causing inconvenience to both vehicle users as well as pedestrians.

Shanivarasathe is situated on the border of Kodagu and Hassan districts. The KSRTC buses from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hassan, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya arrive at Shanivarasanthe on a daily basis. Further, for every 15 minutes, there is a private bus operating to different destinations from Shanivarasanthe.

Full-fledged shelter

The traffic woes will be eased if a full-fledged bus shelter is constructed in Shanivarasanthe, said local residents.

Gram Panchayat member N K Sumathi said, "When private and KSRTC buses enter Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle at a time, accidents take place. There is a need for a bus shelter and parking space in Shanivarasanthe."

Farmer A D Mohan Kumar said, "The authorities should give priority for building a bus shelter. The congested road should be widened for easy flow of vehicles."
