'CM has developed Varuna constituency well'

Last Updated 12 December 2017, 18:53 IST

"Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sanctioned more than Rs 1,600 crore for the development of his Varuna Assembly constituency. He has contributed a lot for the development of all the villages under the constituency," said district (rural) Congress vice president Gurupadaswamy.

Reacting to the statement of former corporator Pradeep Kumar that there has been no development in Varuna constituency in the past four-and-a-half years, Gurupadaswamy said that all houses in the constituency which has villages of Mysuru, Nanjangud and T Narsipur taluks, get proper drinking water, have cement roads and temples here have been developed.

"Kumar does not even know how many villages and how many Grama Panchayats are there under Varuna constituency. Under Basava Housing scheme, each village has got 50 houses in the constituency," he said.

Taking exception to BJP leader Ka Pu Siddalingaswamy's comments on Varuna constituency, Gurupadaswamy said, "Siddalingaswamy has no moral right to speak against the Congress. He has lost the previous election and now takes pleasure in levelling baseless allegations".

He said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and District in-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa will be felicitated at Nanjanagud shortly to celebrate their contributions for the development of the region, including Varuna and Nanjangud constituencies.
