External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin on Saturday met in New Delhi to review bilateral trade and economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation.
Swaraj and Rogozin co-chaired the meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC).
"Deepening our special and privileged strategic partnership, EAM @SushmaSwaraj welcomes Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, for the IRIGC-TEC in N.Delhi," Raveesh Kumar, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, posted on Twitter.
Rogozin is accompanied by senior Russian government officials and representatives of trade and industry. Swaraj is leading the Indian delegation.
Kumar said the meeting would enable India and Russia to review the progress achieved by various working groups and sub-groups under the IRIGC-TEC and also discuss new areas of cooperation that could strengthen bilateral trade and investment.
India and Russia have been discussing ways to step up bilateral cooperation in energy, railways, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals sectors, sources said.
