Shettar opposes CM's prog

Last Updated 23 December 2017, 16:22 IST

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar charged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is holding Congress convention using government money, as part of his efforts to show people that his government has done something in last four-and-half-years.

Mentioning the chief minister's programme to lay foundation stone and to inaugurate different works in Hubballi on Sunday (December 24), he told media persons here on Saturday that he would not have objected if Congress Party's money was spent for such events.

Mr Siddaramaiah is inaugurating works which were started during the BJP government, while the works for which he is laying foundation stone could not take off, as elections are coming, he said.

"I am not officially invited for Sunday's function, though my name was just mentioned in the invitation card. As my presence can be a hurdle to hold Congress convention, they are deliberately doing so. When I do not go, they say I have not come though invited," he charged.

Protest today

BJP city district unit will stage a protest near Mini Vidhan Soudha in the City on Sunday at 10:00 am, charging that the Congress government is following anti-people policy.

Immediate release of pending pension grants to the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC), and approval for Rs 24 crore proposal to improve bulk water supply from Malaprabha reservoir would be among the demands of the BJP workers.

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar, MP Pralhad Joshi and others will lead the protest.
