A day after the BBMP shut down two bars in Indiranagar, they functioned as usual on Saturday.

Following complaints from residents  about loud noise from pubs until late in the night, Ashok, joint commissioner, East, BBMP, went on an inspection on Friday night and shut down Jonah's by Chef Willi and The Fatty Bao on 12th main road in Indiranagar for not complying with the closure notice, which was given by the BBMP.

The inspection mostly targeted rooftop bars, most of which have violated the fire safety and building plan norms.

A senior official at Jonah's said: "We had to ask our guests to leave mid-way when they told us to close down last night. We lost sales to the tune of Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000. We have asked the BBMP to give us 10 days to close the bar on the terrace and shift it to the third floor, which is a bar-cum-restaurant."

Meanwhile, officials at The Fatty Bao refused to comment on the issue.

DH called Ashok repeatedly for his response, but he did not take our calls.

Apart from commercialisation of residential areas, citizens have raised complaints against noisy bars and pubs that play loud music late into the night.
