The Jayanagar police have booked a Kannada film director for cheating a Mumbai-based model and actor and outraging her modesty.
Sharanya, in a complaint to the police, said Melwin Elpil, the director of an upcoming Kannada film 'Huttada Sutta', had offered her a dance sequence in the movie. She came down to the city for the role. But the director neither gave her the assignment nor paid her the promised remuneration. She said she was given only Rs 2,000, as against Rs 15,000 per day for six days. She added that she was made to stay in a house with an elderly couple.
Elpil has refuted the allegations. He said he didn't give the role to Sharanya as she was unwell, police said.
