MLA Haris puts up hundreds of posters to promote son

A day after the BBMP decided to rid the city of unregulated banners and posters, Congress MLA from Shantinagar Assembly constituency N A Haris put up hundreds of flexes tied to lamp polls.

The posters stretching across MG Road- conveyed New Year wishes from the MLA and a message of caution to revellers against drunken driving.

The posters also contained pictures of his son Mohammed Haris Nalapad, who is Bengaluru district youth Congress general secretary.

Similar posters carrying greetings of sitting MLAs and those they defeated have come up across the city, prompting Mayor R Sampath Raj to tear them down.

The Mayor has directed BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad to remove all the posters and buntings irrespective of the persons and the parties.

On Friday's council meeting, the Mayor ordered officials to remove all unauthorized display adverts from the city from Saturday, warning engineers that they would be suspended if such displays continue to exist in their wards.
