It was a new high for the Namma Metro when it clocked a ridership of 2.6 lakh at 9 pm on the New Year's Eve.
Given that the BMRCL had extended the operation timings till 2 am, the officials were expecting to break the earlier record of 3.7 lakh when the crowd on Brigade Road returns home.
However, the exit gate at the MG Road Station clocked 21,540 riders till 9 pm with the entry gates expected to have recorded at least 15,000 passengers. The Cubbon Park Station recorded 5,439 riders exiting while the number stood at 3,164 at the Trinity Station.
