The police have arrested a private school teacher for allegedly sexually harassing a student here on Thursday.
The arrested is identified as Rohith of St Joseph's English Medium School. According to the parents of the victim, Rohith assaulted the girl in October 2017. The girl was suffering from Chikungunya and the teacher made her sit on his lap. But the incident came to light only on Wednesday after the girl revealed the incident to the doctor.
Block Education Officer M Raju, who visited the school on Thursday, inspected the CCTV footage and also enquired with the students about the teacher.
A group of people, who entered the school premises, thrashed Rohith in front of the students.
