A picture of Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader having lunch with one of the members of the Target group (a notorious group which is into extortion and other crimes) has gone viral.
The man in the picture, Ilyas, is said to be an active member of the group and involved in many criminal activities. The photo gained prominence as Ilyas is a close associate of Pinki Nawaz, the prime suspect in the Deepak Rao murder case.
Reacting to this, Khader said, "He (Ilyas) had contested in the Youth Congress election."
The minister alleged that a few people were politicising the incident. "I will not support murderers," he said.
