Flash protest by farmers

Demanding permanent cultivation chits, more than 40 farmers of Daradahalli and Kesavolalu staged a flash protest during the Chief Minister's programme in Mudigere on Friday.

The protesters said that they have been cultivating on the land by availing temporary cultivation chits for the last 40 years. The protest was held under the aegis of Kesavolalu Ganesh and the protestors shouted slogans against the state government. SP Annamalai who rushed to the spot warned of arresting them if they continue to raise slogans.

Demanding that they should be allowed to air their grievances the farmers rushed to the stage. The police arrested the farmer leaders and released them after the stage programme concluded.
