Lynch mob kills suspected thief

Sources said, around half-a-dozen local youths caught Mahesh, and when he tried to escape, lynched him. Police have registered a case of murder.

Youth run over by tanker

Nagaraj (22), of Anand Nagar in KR Puram was run over by a water tanker lorry on Benaganahalli Cross in Indiranagar traffic limits on Wednesday morning.

Nagaraj, who worked for a super market, died when the bike he was riding was knocked down from behind by a private water tanker, whose rear wheels crushed him. The driver fled. Police have seized the tanker.

Fire in complex

An accidental fire broke out in a commercial complex in Marathalli on Old Air port road on Wednesday morning.

Around 11.40 am, thick smoke was seen swirling out of the two-floored building, owned by Sreenivas Reddy, a close relative of MLA Nandish Reddy. The fire force attributed it to a short circuit in the compressor room and estimated the losses to the tune of Rs four lakh.

The police and the fire personnel took extra care to ensure that media persons were kept away from the building.

Laptop thief held

Kumaraswamy Layout police arrested a man who was allegedly trying to sell stolen laptops on Monday.

Veer S (24) of Chandra Nagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, was looking out for customers in order to sell the portable computers near Dayanand Sagar College, police said. Ten laptops worth Rs 4.10 lakh were recovered from him.
