'Will adopt Secure Examination System to prevent malpractice in SSLC, PU exams'

Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait on Monday said that the Education Department is prepared to conduct the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Pre-University (PU) examinations.

Speaking to reporters after attending a programme here the minister said this time, the authorities will conduct the examinations without any hassle.   "In order to prevent malpractice and other lapses, the department has adopted the Karnataka Secure Examination System (KSES). Hence, parents and students need not bother about the process of examination. The examination had several lapses since many years, but, this time all problems have been resolved," he said.

To avoid malpractice, all 788 PUC examination centres across the state, will be under CCTV camera surveillance. Last year, there were no CCTV cameras at many centres, he said.

SSLC examination will commence from March 23 and concludes on April 6. Similarly, PU examination will start on March 1 and end on March 17. The examination results will be announced by April end, he informed.

Replying to a query, Sait said, "The Department of PU Education has taken all necessary measures to ensure that no question paper will be leaked. Even the teachers have assured to cooperate for valuation."

When asked about the Rules under the Karnataka Education Act for private schools, the minister said that the draft has been prepared for the safety and fee structure and a notification will be issued soon.
