The High Court of Karnataka has issued a notice to the state government on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition against appointing the chairpersons of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Bangalore Airport Area Planning Authority (BIAAPA).
Justice A S Bopanna ordered the notices on the petition filed by V Shashidhar, the president of Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasangha, and posted the matter for next hearing to January 16.
The petitioner challenged the appointment of Periyapatna MLA, K Venkatesh, as BDA chairman and Hoskote MLA, M T B Nagaraj, as BIAAPA chairman.
He argued that rules allowed only local MLAs to be considered for such posts.
