A 50-year-old woman was buried alive and two others injured when a mud wall collapsed on them at a stone crushing unit in Hosuru Gollarahalli near Ramanagaram on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Kempamma, a labourer.
The injured, Shobha and Kamalamma, have been admitted to hospital, where they are said to be out of danger.
The victims are residents of a nearby village, who had come to collect dust from the stone crushing unit. The dust is used to draw rangolis in front of houses, the police said.
While collecting the dust near a heap of mud, the wall suddenly caved in, burying them. Passersby who heard their screams rushed to the spot. They began removing the mud and alerted the fire and emergency service personnel. They rushed the victims to hospital, but Kempamma was declared brought dead.
The Bidadi police are looking into the matter.
