Last Updated 22 April 2010, 16:57 IST

Silva first cancelled out Adil Khan’s 22nd minute goal in the 50th minute. He later scored the winner in stoppage time to guide Dempo to victory and thus consolidate their top position with seven more points from their nearest rival Mahindra United.

Dempo have taken their tally to 44 points from 22 matches.

Sporting Clube de Goa’s relegation is almost confirmed after this defeat as they remained on 20 points from as many matches.

Sporting shot into the lead in the 22nd minute when Adil Khan headed in a free kick taken by Bisheshwor Singh. The free kick was awarded after Adil khan was brought down by Robert Silva on the right.

After the change of ends, Dempo were all over the rival citadel in search of the equalizer. They found the equalizer in the 50th minute through a solo effort from Silva who beat a host of rival defenders after collecting a throw in from Valeriano Rebelo.

Thereafter, the Sporting goal was under pressure as Dempo made repeated forays but goalkeeper Felix stood firm to deny Anthony Pereira and substitute Peter Carvalho a goal.
Just as the match was heading towards a draw, Silva scored the winner when he headed in to give Dempo full points.
