An eight standard student was trampled to death by an elephant on rampage near Kodagathavalli village, Alur taluk, Hassan district, on Sunday morning.
The 14-year-old victim has been identified as Bharat. His father is no more.
He came to his grandmother Jayamma's house to celebrate the Sankranti festival.
The lone tusker grabbed the teenager in front of the house, took him into the woods and killed him, police said.
