The BJP and the Congress workers clashed again on Tuesday during Congress president Rahul Gandhi's visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, Amethi.

Rahul had to cancel his meeting at Gauriganj as BJP workers, carrying posters and banners containing slogans against the Congress president, crowded the main market.

Congress workers, who also reached there a little later, clashed with the saffron party workers prompting the police to use mild force to disperse them, sources said.

The workers of both parties clashed at Jagdishpur also, the police said.

Rahul, however, visited Jais, Musafirkhana and other parts of Amethi on the concluding day of his two-day visit and met a cross section of the electorate.

He also met party workers and common people at Munshiganj guest house and also accepted their applications.

The Congress president, during an interaction with the traders, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over GST and said that the business community had been facing a lot of problems owing to the same.

He also accused the BJP government of meting out step motherly treatment to Amethi and scrapping several developmental projects.

The police have registered cases against Congress leaders in connection with the clashes with the BJP workers at Salon in Raebareli district on Monday during Rahul's visit.

A case has also been registered against another local Congress leader for reportedly pasting a poster showing Rahul as Lord Rama and Modi as Ravana.
