After HC order, Indian Nursing Council closes its website

Last Updated 17 January 2018, 18:20 IST

The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has closed its website following a direction from the High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday.

A division bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and B S Patil had directed the INC to display on the blank page of its website that the website has been removed as per the order of the High Court.

The website of the INC reads, "In compliance of the judgement of the Honourable High Court of Karnataka in writ petition No 25355-57/2017 (Edn), INC website is closed and it will be reconstructed after due compliance of above Honourable High Court order."

Ranjeet Kaur, secretary of the INC, had filed an affidavit in the court stating that they have removed all the materials from the council's website as per the court's directions.

The affidavit was filed in response to the contempt of court petition filed by the Karnataka State Association of the Management of Nursing and Allied Health Science Institutions and others challenging the display of the list of nursing institutions of other states that were displayed on the website despite the court's order to remove them.

The court had earlier directed the INC to remove all materials from its website that indicate that institutions imparting nursing courses have to obtain recognition from them.

The court has directed the INC to produce a copy of the webpage display on
Thursday.
