BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa urged the people to support BJP to win at least three to four Assembly segments in the district in the upcoming general elections.

Yeddyurappa was addressing a gathering during the Parivarthana Yatre, organised on the Old Bus Stand premises here on Saturday. "During my term as chief minister, the BJP sanctioned Rs 150 crore for Mysore Sugar (MySugar) Factory, Rs 45 crore for PSSK, Rs 5 crore for the municipality and Rs 32 crore for multi-village drinking project," he said.

"Though the BJP government developed the district, we did not get full support from the people in the 2013 Assembly elections. People should understand the contributions of the BJP and support the party to form the government. The BJP is organising a convention for the first time in the district after former chief minister S M Krishna joined the party. With Krishna, the party has been strengthened and the party will come to power," he said. Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said Yeddyurappa will be the next chief minister and the people of the district should ensure that the BJP will win in at least five constituencies in the district. BJP leader K Shivaram said that the Congress party has been cheating the Dalits for the last seven decades. Though the Congress party won the elections with the support of Dalit voters, the party failed to make a Dalit leader as chief minister. The Congress party is anti-Dalit and the people should teach them a lesson," he said.

Modi-model governance

In Srirangapatna, Yeddyurappa said that if the BJP comes to power, he would give Prime Minister Narendra Modi's model governance in the state. "The BJP has drafted several projects to make Karnataka as a model state in the nation. However, I will not disclose the planned projects as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would 'copy' them. The people will send Siddaramaiah home in the next three months and the BJP will come to power," he said. Former ministers R Ashoka, M P Renukacharya and C T Ravi, MP Shoba Karandlaje, and former MP Tejaswini Ramesh were present.
