<p class="bodytext">Karnataka has bagged the e-Puraskar award of the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj for the best performance in empowering panchayats by using information and communication technology (ICT) tools.</p>.<p class="bodytext">This is the fourth consecutive year the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department has won the award, according to a statement from RDPR Minister H K Patil's office.</p>.<p class="bodytext">"Karnataka has been assessed as the top performing state in facilitating use of ICT tools for empowering the panchayats," Ministry of Panchayat Raj joint secretary Sanjeeb Patjoshi wrote in a letter to RDPR principal secretary N Nagambika Devi.</p>
