Hailstorm causes crop loss

Addressing the media, she said the whole region was affected by the freak storm.
She said she would assess the loss and write to the government for further action.

Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha district general secretary P R Suryanarayan addressing reporters on Friday said the unprecedented storm had battered Lakshmipura, Renuru and Rayalpadu in the taluk, resulting in loss of crops worth lakhs of rupees.

The government should come to the aid of farmers who have suffered losses due to the natural calamity. The government should pay at least Rs 10,000 per acre as compensation to the farmers, he demanded.

Taluk unit secretary P R Naveen Kumar said the government should give suitable compensation to the family  of Chalapathy, a farmer who was killed by lightning in Mudivaripalli  in the taluk.

He also urged the government to provide crop loans and suitable compensation to the farmers who suffered losses.
