Newly engaged couple among three killed in road accident

Three people were killed and several sustained serious injuries, when the car they were travelling in hit a woman before crashing into a roadside tree on the national highway 75, near Palya in the taluk on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Supreeth (27) and Radhika (24), of Gubbi and Rathnamma, wife of Dyavegowda, of Hoovinahalli village, Hassan taluk.

Radhika's mother Shashikala and Prabhudev, who was driving the car, were seriously injured and have been shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru for further treatment.

Photographers Mohan, Ajay and makeup woman Shilpa too sustained injuries.

It is said that Supreeth and Radhika were engaged a few days ago and were on their way to Shettihalli Church for a photo shoot. Their wedding was scheduled to be held on February 4. They were returning after the shoot, when Rathnamma, said to be mentally unsound, suddenly came across the vehicle, resulting in the mishap.

All the injured are from Gubbi in Tumakuru district.
