Congress leaders have urged the Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner to initiate action against BJP leaders for illegally sneaking into the MCC election office and capturing photos and videos and uploading the same on social networking sites.

Submitting a memorandum to the DC and Police Commissioner on Wednesday, the leaders said that students in Mangaluru South legislative Assembly had applied for their inclusion of names in the voters' list and the election officials have taken steps to add their names to the voters' list through the proper channel. But, some BJP leaders who gained entry into the election office at Mangaluru City Corporation building on January 22, not only raised objections on the addition of names but also abused the officers working in the electoral section.

The BJP leaders have snatched the applications from officers by force and have recorded the video. Later, calling a press conference, they have exhibited the records at the BJP office. This is an offense as per law, the Congress leaders said. Also, the photos of the student applicants have been uploaded on social networking sites, thereby defaming the students and their education institutions.

Legal action should be initiated against Barinath Kamath, Premanand Shetty, Sudhir Bajilakeri, Monappa Bhandary, Vedavyas Kamath and Yogish Bhat, Sudhakar, Appu Nitte and Kamath P for abusing the officials and for clicking photos and shooting videos.

Mangaluru block Congress president Abdul Salim, leader Vishwas Kumar Das, MCC members A C Vinay Raj, Appi, Pravinchandra Alva, T K Sudhir, Prabhakar Shriyan, Sadashiva Amin, Arif Bava, Durgaprasad, Niraj Pal, Bharatesh Amin, Yusuf Ucchil, Namita Rao, Asif, Hemanth Garodi, Ashraf Bajal and Abdul Latif were present among others.
