The city police have handed over the murder case of an ex-corporator to the Central Crime Branch for further investigation.

Govinde Gowda, former JD(S) corporator of Hegganahalli ward, was hacked to death by a group of men on December 9.

The Rajagopal Nagar police registered a case against 11 men, all of whom had applied for bail.

The 61st city civil and sessions court had rejected the bail application of all the accused, including the prime accused Lakshman and Devaraj.

Almost all the accused are said to be relatives of Chikkathimmegowda, Govinde Gowda's aide who switched over to the BJP in 2015.

Chikkathimmegowda had ensured that Govinde Gowda's wife lost in the BBMP polls. Govinde Gowda later got him killed, the police said.
