A 30-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for killing his friend and dumping the body on Hebbal lake bed on Sunday.
The suspect R Ravi and the deceased Anil were working for a mobile canteen owned by one Harish on Hebbal Main Road near CBI office. They lived in a rented house on 5th Cross in Ganganagar, the police said.
Ravi is a native of Thubinekere village in Ramanagara district.
According to the police, Anil would tease and humiliate Ravi frequently. On Sunday, while they were at home, Anil started bullying Ravi and called him 'half mental.'
Ravi, in a fit of rage, strangled Anil to death and stuffed the body in a plastic bag and covered it with a bed sheet. He then hired an autorickshaw saying that he had to take vegetables to the hotel and got down at the Hebbal lake. He then dumped the body on the lake bed and returned home in another autorickshaw, the police said.
A local fisherman Govind Rao noticed the body and alerted the police. The police managed to identify the deceased as Anil. They later came to know that Ravi was his roommate and picked him up for questioning as his activities were suspicious. A detailed questioning led him to confess to the crime, the police said.
The Kodigehalli police have booked Ravi on charges of murder, produced him before a magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.
