Teachers hush up abuse

The exploits of a teacher, who has been abusing girl students in classrooms, were hushed by his colleagues at the Government Girls High School, Shivanagar,  IDA Bollaram, DHNS reports from Hyderabad.

K Lingam, a Mathematics teacher, is facing allegations of sexual abuse of girl from Classes VIII, IX and X.

According to Achyuta Rao, honorary president of Balalahakkula Sangham, children seeking anonymity explained the situation to him.

They said the teacher uses filthy language and demands sexual favours. "He often touches their private parts and always speaks about the sex in the classroom. The students have complained to the headmaster but in vain," the statement of the children's rights group said.

When a complaint about  Lingam's  behavior went up to the district educational officer, instead of sacking him, the education department came to his rescue.

The staff members conducted an emergency meeting and  decided  that the teacher must be excused if he renders an apology to the students.
