Devt problems will be tackled, says District Secy

Convening a review meeting on Saturday at Deputy Commissioner’s office, he said that any problem, which needs to be tackled at the Government-level can be brought to his notice either directly or through the Deputy Commissioner.

District-in-Charge Superintendent of Police Ramesh said that as far as maintenance of law and order is concerned, there is no problem at all. All security measures are in place in wake of Gram Panchayat elections. As many as 12 GPs have been identified as naxal affected areas.

Speaking about the various developmental works undertaken by Zilla Panchayat, CEO P Shivshankar said that a sum of Rs 111 crore has been earmarked for various developmental works under Link document but district has received Rs 118 crore of which 105.75 crore has been utilised by implementing various developmental works. Remaining funds has been used for providing salary.

Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Department A Shakunthala said that 10,980 children have been enrolled under Bhagya Lakshmi scheme and insurance of Rs 14.58 crore has been provided. A total of 44 anganwadi buildings are under construction. 
Mid-day meal official Manjula said that the scheme has been implemented in 1,420 schools in the district and 2.37 lakh children are being fed under the scheme. As many as 9,013 children have opted not to have mid-day meals. A sum of Rs 15.63 crore has been utilised under this scheme of the total released amount of Rs 15.65 crore. Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Vijayprakash said that at present there is no drinking water problem in the city. “Of the total Rs 100 crore released to Mangalore City Corporation, a sum of Rs 65 crore has been released and Rs 60.43 crore has been utilised. About 96 projects have been completed out of 251 projects,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj said that he is aware of the condition of Thokkottu-Talapady road and a report has been submitted to the centre on the same. Funds have been sanctioned for Thokkottu-Talapady road and the said stretch of road will be repaired by May 15.
