Chikkamagaluru-Udupi MP Shoba Karandlaje on Saturday stayed overnight at the house of one Indresh of Kyatamaranahalli Dalit Colony in the city, as part of the party's 'slum vastavya'.

The MP said, after the BJP comes to power in Karnataka, slum vastavya will be a routine affair.

Speaking to reporters, here, the MP said, the BJP will come to power after Assembly elections in the state, and all the MLAs and ministers will be asked to stay in Dalit colonies, at least, once in a month. According to the MP, "The development works will be taken up at Dalit colonies if MLAs and ministers plan their stay in these areas."

She said that political leaders, irrespective of parties, should come up with such initiatives for the welfare of the people. Karandlaje said, the people in Kyatamaranahalli were very happy and treated me in a kind manner. The MP thanked the residents of the colony.

Later, Shoba Karandlaje released 'Slum Dourbhagya', a book highlighting lack of civic amenities in slums and apathy of the state government in safeguarding the welfare of the slumdwellers.
